Eating gluten-free while traveling can sometimes feel like a scavenger hunt. You’re constantly wondering:
• Will the staff understand gluten-free needs?
• Are there actually options I can eat?
• Will I spend the whole trip surviving on snacks?
During our stay at Great Wolf Lodge New England, I was pleasantly surprised to find gluten-free accommodations throughout the resort.
Even better, the staff made the process easy.

Shout-Out to the Dining Manager
A big thank you goes to Christian, the dining manager, who took time to walk through the menu with me.
If you’ve ever had to explain gluten-free dining in a busy restaurant, you know how valuable that patience and understanding can be. Christian helped identify what could be modified and what would be safest to order.
And the most important result?
I didn’t get sick during the trip.
That alone is a huge win when traveling gluten-free.

What I Ate (Honest Ratings)
Here’s everything I tried around the resort and how it stacked up.
Hungry As A Wolf – Gluten-Free Pizza
⭐ 1/5
I wanted to love this… but unfortunately it was the biggest miss of the trip.
The toppings were solid, but the crust had a very dry texture and a flavor that reminded me of sawdust.
Great Wolf Lodge, if you’re listening: please fix the pizza crust! 😆

Chicken Wings
⭐ 5/5
These were excellent.
They’re available gluten-free with Buffalo sauce, BBQ, or naked, which makes them one of the safest and most reliable options on property.
Crispy, flavorful, and easy to order safely.
Cobb Salad
⭐ 4/5
This salad came loaded with toppings and had plenty of variety.
The only downside was that the chicken was a little dry, but overall it was still a solid option if you want something lighter.

Gluten-Free Breakfast Options
Breakfast is buffet-style, but there are several gluten-free friendly items available on the line:
• meats
• potatoes
• fruit
In addition, the kitchen can prepare special-order gluten-free items, including omelets, pancakes, and French toast.
French Toast
⭐ 5/5
Absolutely delicious.
Omelet
⭐ 5/5
Fresh, customizable, and cooked perfectly.
Pancakes
⭐ 3/5
Not bad, but not the standout of the breakfast menu.
Breakfast Potatoes
⭐ Secret MVP
Honestly my favorite thing on the entire breakfast spread.

Specialty Shake
One of the fun surprises was a specialty milkshake called the “Banana Chocolate Chip Cookie.”
The staff was able to modify it gluten-free by removing the cookie portion, and it was still fantastic.
⭐ 5/5
Rich, creamy, and absolutely worth the treat.
Cabana Dining at the Water Park
We rented a cabana in the water park area, which included:
• pizza
• breadsticks
• wings
Since those items weren’t gluten-free, I ordered a few substitutions.
Gluten-Free Chicken Tenders
⭐ 5/5
These were surprisingly good and one of my favorite meals during the trip.
Fries
⭐ 3/5
Decent, but nothing particularly special.

Dinner Highlights
Pork Belly Appetizer
⭐ 6/5
Yes, six out of five.
It was that good.
Perfectly cooked pork belly with incredible flavor. Absolute chef’s kiss moment.
Creamy Shrimp Alfredo
⭐ 5/5
Great flavor and texture, and one of the best gluten-free dinner options I tried during the stay.
Jalapeño Double Pork Mac (Modified GF)
⭐ 2/5
This dish was modified to be gluten-free by swapping the jalapeño poppers for sliced jalapeños.
Unfortunately it didn’t quite deliver.
The sauce wasn’t nearly cheesy enough, and the texture ended up being a little gritty.
Dessert Options
I also grabbed Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream from the sweet shop.
The ice cream itself was great, but gluten-free guests should know:
• The toppings station had heavy cross-contamination
• There were no gluten-free bakery items available
So it’s safest to stick with plain ice cream.

Overall Gluten-Free Experience
Even though there were a few misses, the overall gluten-free dining experience at Great Wolf Lodge New England was positive.
The biggest wins were:
✔ staff who understood gluten-free needs
✔ multiple dining options across the resort
✔ menu items that could be modified safely
And again, the ultimate test:
I didn’t get sick.
Nerdy Mom DPT Takeaway
Great Wolf Lodge delivered some big hits and a few misses when it came to gluten-free dining.
But the willingness of the staff to work with dietary restrictions made it easy to enjoy the trip without constantly stressing about food.
And honestly?
Any vacation where you can eat safely, ride water slides, and finish the day with a milkshake is a pretty good one.
